This joint Centre for Business in Society (CBiS) and ESRC Festival event will feature a number of presentations from academics and practitioners as well as opportunities for interactive discussion targeted towards organisations mitigating waste, catering and retail businesses, and anyone with an interest in the topic.
The event will:
- Share findings on why individuals throw away food to help businesses better understand and adapt their practices to mitigate food waste.
- Promote innovative and transferable strategies implemented to reduce and prevent food waste
- Provide an opportunity for interactive discussion of the causes and solutions of food waste as well as networking, collaboration and development of further research priorities.
Jordon Lazell will be joined by Professor William Young (University of Leeds) to share findings on the causes of food waste at consumer level. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from field practitioners; Sarah Bromley, Research Analyst at WRAP and Caitlin Shepard, Co-founder and Director of the award winning food waste campaign, This is Rubbish. Social innovators will also showcase their work with Alice Codsi discussing the Food Surplus Entrepreneur Network and Tessa Cook presenting the revolutionary new food sharing app OLIO.
